History of LimousinFarm
Farm owner Lothar Vilz comes from a family that has spent its life living in harmony with local nature and rearing animals for generations.
Limousin Farm is located in the highest region of eastern Belgium, close to the German border and not far from Luxembourg, Holland and France.
The present farmer initially trained as a chef. While working abroad, he got to know the “Limousin” cattle originating from southwest France. Lothar Vilz was immediately enthralled by these remarkable animals: “A wonderful breed! Full of beauty and with basic herding instincts – like a family: all for one and always together. Natural behaviour and rapid growth through the natural raw feed provided by nature, with healthy milk and – particularly noticeable for me as a chef – with excellent, fine-grained and very tasteful meat!”
This initial enthusiasm eventually developed into the “Limousin Farm” project in 1999. Located in the immediate vicinity of a nature reserve, the farm started with just three animals – selected with meticulous precision – as the basis for high-quality breeding.
